WELCOME to TLC 2.0!

11/15/2007... I bet you thought you'd seen the last of the TLC 2.0 email. Not quite yet! We had a successful Wrap Up party this afternoon and awarded 26 certificates. Congratulations to everyone who completed their 23 Things. Special congratulations to the following winners:

Keep your 2.0 skills fresh and ready for whatever lies ahead.

11/06/07... On August 22nd we kicked off our learning challenge, TLC 2.0. On Thursday, November 15th we will celebrate our completion of the program with an awards ceremony, prizes, and a cake!

Whether you complete your 23 Things by the end of the program or not, please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of your fellow co-workers.

We will begin at 1:00 pm on November 15th in the 2nd floor gallery of the Alvin Sherman Library.

10/24/07... Week 9 is open

Wow! August 22nd, the day we kicked off TLC 2.0, seems so long ago. On the other hand, it is hard to believe that we are releasing the final Things for Week 9. This week you will complete Thing 20, Thing 21, Thing 22, and Thing 23. I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me they're easy and fun too.

If you complete your final things by next week (10/31) you will qualify to win the final weekly incentive. If you've missed the opportunity to get your Things done each week, don't worry you have until November 8th to complete ALL 23 Things.

Complete and record all 23 Things by November 8th and you will be entered into the final prize drawing and will receive a special certificate at the Wrap Up party on November 15th!

10/17/07... Week 8 is open

Another Week in TLC 2.0 means more Things to explore!

It was great to see everyone participating in this week's Wiki Exercises. We've created quite a sandbox for ourselves and it is still growing. In Week 8 we will be exploring collaborative Web-based applications, like Google Docs and Zoho Writer. So Office 2007 watch your back! You will also have a chance to check out the Oscars of the Web 2.0 world, the Web 2.0 Award Winners.

  • Friday, October 19th: We will be having 2 open labs on Friday 10/19 at 10 am and 1 pm in Lab A of the Alvin Sherman Library
  • Tuesday, October 23rd: If you plan on going to Meg Kribble's Second Life Workshop on October 30th then join us for two open labs dedicated to Second Life at 10 am and 1 pm

10/15/07... late notice for Week 7

In TLC 2.0 land Week 7 started last week. Your correspondent (and web updater) was out for a couple of days. Mea culpa!

The weeks are moving by fast, but we have new participants from the NSU Libraries joining us each week. If you haven't looked at the list of participants' blogs in a while, check it out.

Our colleagues at Broward County Libraries had with their TLC 2.0 kickoff on Thursday, October 12. We wish them well! Have fun!

This week is all about wikis. Thing 16 covers library wikis. In Thing 17 you'll contribute to the NSULIBS TLC 2.0 wiki by adding some information about your favorites (books, restaurants, vacation destinations etc.).

Do you need to catch up on your 23 Things? Please join us for an open lab on Wednesday 10/10 in Lab A of the Alvin Sherman Library. TLC 2.0 task force member will be on hand to help you with your exercises or answer any questions you might have. We hope to see you either at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm on October 10, 2007!

I know all this rain is getting everyone down, so I'm sure you're happy to hear that Week 5 is now activated on the TLC 2.0 blog. Week 5 is dedicated to PLAY! This week you can explore image generators, catalog your own bookshelf on LibraryThing and even create your own search engine.

Just think you, could create the next Google!

Take a look at Thing 10, Thing 11, and Thing 12. Complete your exercises and record them by next week (Wednesday, October 3rd).

9/12/07... Week IV is open!

For those of you who finished experimenting with Flickr in Week III and are itching to move forward, we've just released Week IV, RSS and Newsreaders!

Check out the exercises on the 23 Things page under Week IV:

Complete the exercises and blog about your experience with these tools. Then be sure to record that you've completed the discovery exercise in order to get credit for your hard work.

NOTE: For those of you finishing up Week III Things 5 , 6 , and 7 you've still got time. We will draw a name on Friday September 15th for Week III's winner, so be sure to complete your exercises and record them by Thursday September 13th at midnight.
